Georgie Cardigan

Georgie Cardigan

Pattern:  Georgie by Kim Hargreaves

Yarn:  King Tut by Kniting Fever in Rose

I had started on this pattern this Summer, I made a meduim with no modifications.  It took 13 skeins of my yarn.  This was really easy, simple stockinette stitch, miles and miles of it!  I’m glad to be done with it.  Here are a few more pictures of me wearing it.  I love the slouchy casual feel:

Since the yarn is 100% cotton, it tends to get wrinkly.  For now, I’m hanging it on a hanger in the closet, and that will probably make it stretch even longer (100% cotton tends to stretch).  One more picture:

Yummy Knits

By now, I’m sure you all have seen the new issue of Knitty.  I’m so excited with all the pretty new things in there!  This one in particular caught my eye:
One look at this and I knew it was a knit from one of my favorite designers, Jordana Paige.  Is this not TDF???  Me Likey!
Another beauty:

My first knitting swap…

Sewing pictures1
It hasn’t been ALL sewing this week-I participated in my first on-line swap over on Ravelry.  Since my partner has now received these things, I can show you what I sent:  a Noro pattern book, T-shirt from Knitch (the coolest LYS ever), sock yarn hand dyed in Athens, GA, a hand-knitted beaded amulet bag (made by me) and some hand-made stitch markers.  This was fun!  I might do another one someday…

Eliza’s finished

You probably can’t tell by the picture, but I knitted this.  Using Berocco’s Glace and the free pattern.  I don’t love this.  It’s way too short, and the top of the body gaped.  I had to do alot of fixing with this one, running an ease yarn along the top; I also machine stitched clear elastic under the shoulder straps to keep them from growing.  It might be cute worn over a camisole or another tank.  We’ll see when Summer comes.  And someone tell that lady to clean her #$%^ mirror!

Happy Valentine’s Day to Me

Look what the UPS man left at my door today:

This is the Knitter’s Satchel by Jordana Paige.  It comes in many colors, but I’ve been pine-ing for a blue one.  I love this bag…it’s so big and roomy, also quite cute!  I also have the JP Messenger Bag, but it’s so big that I end up stuffing it too full and then can’t find anything in it.  The Satchel holds knitting projects as well as keys, wallet, etc beautifully.  Here’s a pic with my flash off:

The actual color is closer to the second picture.  This is a nice gift and arrived none too soon…2-hour baseball and softball practices have begun this week.  Adieu, lovely sewing room! Sad  See you after ball season.

Starsky Continued

I just bound off the back this weekend! YEA!!!  Here’s a closer view of the pattern (banana leaf):

Nothing is blocked yet, so hopefully all the "ripply" stuff will go away.  The blue yarns going across are my "life lines"; these are simple bits of waste yarn that are threaded on a needle and then sewed through the stitches on the knitting needle.  Life Lines come in real handy if you ever need to rip a project back.  Just rip it back to your life line.  No need to start over.  Next come the fronts, and I’ll knit the left front and right front together at the same time; the sleeves are done together also.

Still knitting…

Today I finished the back of my Leontine Tank Top.  I was using Trendsetter’s Montage, which is a novelty yarn, with lots of flecks and sparkles.  I kinda like how this is turning out:

Note the presence of the gold metallic thread.  It adds alot of sparkle, but I wonder if all the "pokey" threads will be scratchy against the skin:

I fear I must put this project aside for a bit because my Starsky knit-a-long yarn arrived in the mail today!

This Andean Silk from www.knitpicks.com feels very soft, and it’s at least a worsted weight size, maybe bigger.  Off to knit…

Knittery

I suppose you could say that the knitting bug has once again reared its cabled head at my house and I’ve taken a small break from sewing to pursue all things yarn.  Yikes! did I do some damage this week!  I was doing quite nicely in my destashing efforts (both yarn and fabric).  I managed to get Eliza blocked, shown here:

Then, I spent one morning searching for a pattern to destash a bunch of yarn and I settled on Leontine, another Berroco pattern, and using Montage from Trendsetter.  Here it is, off to a good start:

Also on the needles is another destashing article, a scarf, using a pattern from "One Skein", and a mystery worsted weight acrylic:

Good going, right?  Yea for me, yes?  This should have been enough to keep me busy for quite some time, no?  Apparently not.  I went to explore a new LYS called Only Ewe and Cotton Too and couldn’t resist picking up some yarn to make Tempting II:

The yarn was on sale, after all.  Summer’s coming and this would be a great top.  Okay, did I stop there? Nooooooo!  I’ve been drooling for a Noro project for a long time, so I thought "what the hey?":

Eight balls of Noro Kocheron later, I should be finished now, yes?  Not quite (I know, right?).  I just joined the Jordana Paige Starsky Knit-a-Long over on Ravelry.  Well, I needed some yarn for that, also.  Sooo, I ordered some Andean Silk for that one.  Sheesh…
