What I did on my Summer Vacation…and I’m sure I’ll get comments…

kids 008

At long last, my 2 kids (one boy and one girl) asked for separate bedrooms.  They had shared bedrooms ever since they were born.  I was surprised that it took this long for the request, they’re now 12 and 14, for goodness sakes, but whatever.  It made house-keeping that much easier.  Soooo, I asked each kid what they wanted for their room décor-wise.  The picture above is the before shot of my son’s new-to-him room.  It WAS my sewing room, which I had to give up.  More on that later.  This view is looking back out into the hallway.  You can see to the right my “vintage” pattern cutting board.  To the left is my dress form with an almost completed blazer on it.  The door to the right is a very small closet, and you may recognize it as the space where I photographed all my garments.

Son’s request for his new décor theme kind of surprised me, but I was more than delighted to help him with this:

Oh, I know…like I said…comments, LOL!

That closet used to be my fabric closet, and I turned it into this:

The desk components and chair are all from the Container Store.

Ok, if you’re handy with a paint brush, this is a doable project.  The paint came from the Collegiate Colors line from Glidden, and found at Home Depot.  I used painter’s tape to mask off the lines.  Taping takes as much time as painting!  Take your time and do it right.  While I’ve done my share of painting, I’ve never done anything like this, using tape.  The big logo decals are from this great online company called Fathead.   They have some great artwork for walls, available in most every sport imaginable.  The bedding and curtains were found online also.  I can’t remember the name of the website, but it’s easily searchable.

I’m really pleased with how this turned out!  WDE, btw…
