McCall’s 3307

Here is another Christmas gift wrapped and ready:
McCalls 3307 002
McCall’s 3307 had exactly what I was looking for:  a hooded poncho for DD.
Pattern Description from envelope:  Children’s and girls’ ponchos and pull-on pants.  Round-shaped poncho or triangular-shaped poncho have slash-front neck opening and optional (hook and loop) closure under each arm.  I used view C with hood and drawstring cord and patch pocket.
Pattern Sizing:  girls sizes med-extra large
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?  Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?  Yes
What did you particularly like  or dislike about the pattern?  This was one of a few patterns I could find that met a specific need.  We walk to school and need a hooded item for rainy weather.  Since we carry back packs, ponchos are more useful than raincoats (to keep back packs dry).  I really like the cute patch pocket detail.  There is a neck facing to assemble and insert, but the resulting look at the neck/collar area is nice looking.  I used rainwear cotton twill from Denver Fabrics which was fairly easy to use for this project, but you could easily use vinyl or other water-proof type materials.  For the drawstring in the hood, I used elastic cording and added little sport toggles on the ends.
Conclusion:  This would be an excellent beginner pattern.  There are other views included in the pattern that do not have a hood; you could make a simple slip-on type poncho with this.
