Kids, Continued

I cleaned out a kid’s closet today and found this way too small night shirt that I made some time ago.  I don’t even remember what pattern I used; it is one of the big 4, that much I know.  This one may be an example of me not knowing when to stop.  This fabric was from my Mom’s stash (oh yeah, she sews too), a cute flannel that begged to be embellished.  I knew I just had to pipe the collar and add some pocket detailing:
nightshirt (2)
did I stop there? no, I had to add ric rac, cutsie buttons, all perfectly cute except for one thing:  it made for uncomfortable sleeping.  The buttons had shanks on them, and all the fussing with the collar made the neck a wee bit tight.  I still think this is a cute kids night shirt, if not a teensy bit over the top!
