Kids and Dolls

This coat was a project that I made 3 years ago when I went to the Martha Pullen School of Art Fashion.  Beautiful navy cordorouy and plaid lining and details.  I love stuff like this: simple but high quality fabrics showcased with intricate detailing.  There is piping right above the gathered yoke and cute little covered buttons.  The pattern is a coat and bonnet pattern from the Children’s Corner.  I highly recommend this school to anyone interested in making high end children’s clothes.  I took a class taught by Lizette Thomason and Kathy Harrison.

Now, it’s time for Christmas gifts!  I’ve been making doll clothes and using up tons of my stash.  My DD has an American Girl knock-off and I sew clothes for her using Joan Hinds’ book "Sew the Contemporary Wardrobe for 18-Inch Dolls".  I can’t find an image of this book at present, but I’ll keep looking.  This little coat was made from a washed wool coat of mine.  Sometimes it’s fun to make stuff where fitting is not an issue.  Thanks, Dolls!
