Simplicity 7219

Have a beautiful teeny tiny piece of fabric and don’t know what to do with it?  Consider simplicity 7219.  At first glance, this is probably more of a "wedding party" design, but I liked the top and made it up in a tiny remnant of beaded satin that I couldn’t afford.

Pattern Description:
Top and skirt set with several views.  The top is darted with a scalloped hem treatment.
Pattern Sizing:
6-12
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Sure, but I only made the top.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I didn’t follow them much; I had to pay extra attention to the beaded fabric.
What did you particularly like  or dislike about the pattern?
The reason I used this pattern was that (not counting the facing pieces, which I didn’t use) there were only 2 pattern pieces to this top.  How easy is that?
Fabric Used:
a beautiful piece of beaded crepe-backed satin from DeLea’s.  It was a remnant, maybe 1/2 yard, and pricey at that.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:
I underlined the entire top with silk organza and thread-traced the darts.  I also lined it with china silk.  There were also pattern pieces for neck, back and armhole facings, all of which I eliminated.  I also inserted the invisible zipper in the back but upside down.  Oddly enough, this is easier for me to reach and zip myself, and the zipper pull is less comspicuous at the hem.  This is a close-fitting top, so make your muslin first. I simply made up my lining first and fitted that.
Conclusion
If you have a beautiful but small amount of something scrumptious, consider this pattern for a top.  I’ll be wearing this to some holiday parties!
